The Marketing Intern will provide critical marketing and communications support for the Ford Theatres 2019 Season including, but not limited to, JAM Sessions, a free, participatory arts engagement program led by professional artists; the Big World Fun family series, hourlong music and dance performances for children ages 4 to 12 and their families; the Artists Partnership Program, a series co-presented with LA County-based artists, producers and arts organizations; and IGNITE @ the FORD!, a curated presenting series of world-renowned artists. Over the course of the internship, the intern will gain hands-on experience with planning and implementation of arts marketing campaigns for a multidisciplinary venue that presents a culturally diverse season of events and will learn best practices and policies for public arts engagement.
Primary responsibilities will include supporting the communications team with content creation for the Ford Blog and weekly e-newsletter, creating show programs for Big World fun events, supporting social media campaigns on such platforms as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, and participating in audience engagement activities. Additional day-to-day marketing duties may include, but are not limited to, creating flyers for JAM Sessions, conducting online research, resizing photographs, updating the Ford’s website, drafting copy for print ads and archiving press clippings.
The intern will report directly to the Ford Theatres Communications Coordinator.
The work schedule is arranged to keep the work week to 40 hours. As part of the work schedule, the intern must be available to work some evenings and weekend events. Must have a reliable form of transportation.
Candidates should have strong time management and organizational skills; outstanding written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; and work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Fluency in Spanish is highly valued. Must be self-motivated, flexible, work well under pressure and be proactive in problem solving. Successful candidates will be extremely reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Candidates should be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), be proficient and/or familiar with the major social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and be familiar with Adobe design software (Photoshop and Illustrator). This is a full-time, paid 10-week summer internship. Student intern will be paid a total of $5,700 ($14.25/hour, $570/week) for the ten-week internship. Intern will also be given college credit (if applicable).
