What do New Orleans jazz, a mariachi cover of a Radiohead song and the soundtrack of Fallout 4 have in common? They will all be performed at the Ford. Not all in one night, mind you.
The eclectic nature of summer at the Ford will be on display this weekend as three very different performances take place. Things will get a little wild on Friday night as Vaud & the Villains brings their 17-piece jazz orchestra and cabaret show – described as part tent revival, part get down, part circus – back to the Ford stage. Three parts awesome is what that is.
Not to be outdone, Boyle Heights favorite Eastside Luv has put together an all-star mariachi band that will perform a mix of covers from groups like Radiohead, The Cars, Metallica and more. Joining this all-star mariachi band are none other than Grammy-winning Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cuéllar and Stephanie Amaro de Abad of Trio Ellas.
Bringing it home on Sunday is the LA Jewish Symphony, who will be performing the music of two star composers from the videogame world: Garry Schyman (Bioshock) and Inon Zur (Fallout 4). As their name implies, the symphony’s mission is to explore the richness and diversity of the Jewish cultural tradition, on this night by playing the scores from some of today’s favorite videogames.
So, whether your thing is modern classical music, a mariachi cover of “Nothing Else Matters” or a raucous evening of villainy and music, we’ve got you covered. See you at the Ford.
