Hold a sec.
So…remember when we said the season was coming to a close? Well, it turns out we have a couple more events up our sleeve.
This is highly unusual for us. Typically, when the last of our artists has stepped off the stage, we say, “buh, bye” and take a much needed nap. When you present nearly 50 summer events in 13 short weeks, it kind of makes one crave the quiet days of winter.
And yet, here we are announcing two bonus events on our new picnic terrace, The Zev. And, they’re free. Yup. Free.
Because we’re curious people, we’re interested in exploring The Zev as a performance space. If you visited us this summer, you may have sat on The Zev as you munched on your preshow dinner and gazed out at its stunning view of the Cahuenga Pass. If you didn’t make it out, consider this your second chance.
What treats do we have in store for you? On Sunday, October 29, come out for an evening of film shorts, presented by the HOLLYWOOD SHORTS Film Festival. The fest will be launching their 2017/18 monthly series with an al fresco evening of outstanding short films on The Zev. The movies start at 7:00 p.m. but you’ll want to come early to grab a bite and stay after to meet the filmmakers.
On Saturday, November 11, take in an afternoon of up-and-coming young DJs, with the LA County Library’s Compton Turns the Tables. These young turntablists learned how to scratch and spin from the best - DJ Lynnée Denise, a professor at Cal State LA and a professional DJ for more than 20 years. After weeks of lessons, they’re ready to throw down some beats for an afternoon of free fun.
See you on The Zev.
